chomping fresh herbs |
broccoli assassin |
furry lump of love! |
i wish they were!
these cuties belong to my best friend,
so i've had plenty of time to spoil them rotten when we're all lounging about.
they love green stuff, so obviously, i love feeding them greens picked fresh from the garden.
there is nothing cuter than a bunny's mouth chomping on over-drive to get ALL of the green goodness!
most of the time they lounge in their magnificent bunny-castle.
but if it's quiet they get adventurous.
like when we're practicing yoga, or quietly reading...
all of a sudden they come sniffing around to see what you're doing.
it's so cute.
especially if you're lucky enough to get bunny licks.
or have one prop itself up on you with their tiny, stubby, furry front paws.
i've even woken up to bunnies on my tummy and chest while i nap on the couch.
no joke. it's absolutely the most adorable experience in the world.
i really love being able to interact with bunnies.
they are so different from cats and dogs.
not quite as social or demanding,
but definitely still able to give that warm fuzzy feeling!
being natural herbivores, bunnies bring me back to the earth whenever i feed them.
they can't survive off of manufactured goods.
neither can we.
they need fresh greens and sun.
so do we.
animals and humans have such a beautiful relationship
and i think caring for bunnies brings out our most tender and nurturing qualities.
so, revel in the glorious cuteness that is the bun-love!
i hope these pictures pushed some cute-buttons
because these bunnies are the cutest part of my indoor/homework ridden summer.
I am squealing and in love! These bunny pics totally replenish my cravings. Broccoli assassin! Esté is a ravenous little one.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your insight on these creatures. I never thought I would be impressed by a rabbit or rabbit behavior/lifestyle. Getting to know Gris y Esté has been more than an adventure, and never "ownership" of a pet! I love their earthly quality; vegetables, fruits, and grasses are all they need to be sustained and they don't kill! I have seen cats and dogs kill other, smaller creatures simply for pleasure. Thankfully, I don't even have to feed my rabbits meat, let alone find myself disappointed by their carnivorous instincts and murderous playtimes. I know that it is "natural" for carnivores, but it is never "natural" to 'own' pets in the first place. Living with rabbits feels like I am providing them safe shelter, rather than harnessing them in my own little air conditioned box for my own boring pleasure.
You're the best bunny mother there is. Bunnies suit you so well.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I could realize so much spirituality from interacting with rabbits, either. The fact that they don't kill is especially enlightening- ahimsa is integral to their very being. So amazing! Your bunnies have brought me joy and reverence I never thought possible coming from an animal. The thought of "ownership" over anything is a bit ridiculous; we shouldn't 'own', we should only ever interact with the beings and forces around us. 'Owning' cats and dogs is cruel, especially in small spaces where they can't roam. Creatures like that require much more than humans are capable of giving them. Living with rabbits makes more sense, not only because they require less and are more quieting to the spirit, but I truly believe they offer humans more than other pets.
John & I are pretty sure that Bun Love was one of our Animal Crossing catchphrases. Little members of the city in the game would randomly say Bun Love.
ReplyDeleteAw that's so funny! Everyone loves bun-love ;)
ReplyDeletePersonally I had never heard the phrase before until I started to hang out with Les and her buns. I picked it up from her.
